Being a wise person, you can distinguish between right and wrong.
做一個有智之人，你便能明辨是非。
Being a kind person, you can save all human beings from abyss of misery.
做一個有仁之人，你便能救渡眾生，遠離苦海深淵。
Being a brave person, you can smile in the face of adversity.
做一個有勇之人，你便能微笑面對橫逆。
Being a loyal person, you can remain consistent from start to the very end.
做一個忠貞之人，你便能貫徹始終，持之以恆。

濟公老師慈訓
◎你看看前面有這麼多的佛像在那裡，如果睡像不好看，被仙佛看了也不好啊！既然已經來到這裡，就要下定決心，從然非常的想睡覺，也要告訴自己不可以錯失良機，既然留下來，就好好把你的心安在這裡。
Look at so many Buddhas sitting there on the shrine watching you. You’ll embarrass yourself if you fall asleep. Since you are here, you should have determination. Even if you are sleepy, tell yourself not to let this opportunity slip away. Try to settle down to lectures when you stay.
◎當你們坐在佛堂裡精神不濟的時候，傳題的前賢是多麼喪氣啊！擔心自己讓得不夠好，或是聲音太像催眠曲！當接到題目時候都是非常戰戰兢兢，總是把最好的道理呈現給班員，所以班員的反應是給他們最大的鼓勵和挫折！所以要把最好的反應呈現給他們，這才是最好的交流。如果他們今天一直敲鼓，可是這是鼓是破的，這樣的聲音是非常難聽!所以希望你們每一個人都是最好的鼓；每一個人都是最好的一塊木頭，可以雕出最好的東西來，希望你們每一個人都可以保持赤字的心。
The lecturers will feel discouraged to see you in low sprits. They will worry if their lectures are not good enough or their voices sound like lullaby. In fact, every time they are assigned with the topics to lecture, they prepare so cautiously as to present the best of Tao. Your feedback serves as either encouragement or frustration, so the best communication you should make is showing your enthusiasm and presenting the best of you. It is like they are playing the drums. If the drums are broken, the music will sound terrible. Therefore, I hope each and every one of you can be the best drums, and likewise be the best wood, out of which the finest piece of art will be carved consequently.
◎今天你們要謝謝你們自己呀，如果自己做的不好，怎麼能得到別人的誇獎呢？因此自己要不斷學習，不懂的要學起來，懂得就要把它做得好，而且還要去感化別人，讓每個人都能改惡歸正，棄惡從善，所以大家的責任很重大。
Today it is you that deserve the gratitude. Without your own good performance, how can you derive people’s praise? So always keep learning. For what you are yet to know, learn it. For what you already know, better it. Besides learning, you should go influence other people, helping them to convert from bad to good, and from evil to righteous. It is your as well as my responsibility.
◎來這裡聽道理，不要認為自己不是台灣人，也可能不會在台灣久留。要知道『道』是不分國度的，『道』緊緊地跟著你，所以你有責任把它發揚光大，不管去玩或去工作，心中都有『道』，讓『道』隨時隨地帶在身上，行每一件事均能合乎『道』。
As you are here for the Tao lectures, don’t think you’re not Taiwanese or you won’t stay in Taiwan for long. Remember, Tao transcends all nationalities, it is forever with you, so you have to take the responsibility to enhance and glorify it. Either play or work, you should bear Tao in your heart and keep it with you, whatever you do should conform the principles of Tao.
◎為師之道你們來這裡是為了生活。生活有兩種：一種物質上的生活，所以你們要越過海洋來這邊賺錢；而另一種意思是超物質的生活，是心靈上的，所以你們要懂得，不要忽略心靈上的生活。
I know you are here to earn the living. But there are two kinds of living: one is more of a materialistic level and that’s the reason why you come all the way here to make money. The other kind of living, however, is one that transcends all materials. It is spiritual level. You should get to know it; don’t neglect your spiritual life.
◎如果你的一生只是追求物質上的享受、生活，那麼你的人生會很乏味，要知道人活在這個世界很多層面的價值，很多人只想著一輩子都能有的吃、穿、住就夠了，但有人就想留下他的名：美名；非惡名。所以這二種人有二種不同的人生觀，其人生的成就也截然不同。
If you devote all your life pursuing material pleasures and desires, then your life will be dull and boring. You should know there are levels of value of why human beings are in the world. So many people satisfy themselves only with something and somewhere to eat and wear. But some people want more than that; they want to leave their names remembered and respected by people after them; of course not notorious names. With these two different values of life, their achievements in life will definitely be different.
◎為師希望你們好好想一想，不管有沒有時間，你的心都要永遠守著這個道，只要你有心就會有時間，可知前面的前賢每一位均非常自願來當義工，因此你們犧牲假日來到這裡，更應該好好來學習。
I hope you can think more deeply. Whether you have time or not, always keep Tao in your heart. In fact, when there is a will there is time. All the lecturers in front of you are voluntary to come serve you, you likewise sacrifice your holiday to come, so you should even make more efforts to learn.
◎做每一件事情的時候，你總是小心翼翼的把它做好，但是卻不能夠持續到最後一秒鐘，沒有持之以恆，就是不能貫徹始終。
When doing your work, at first you may be cautions to get it done, but if you can’t hold on till the last minute, or you can’t persevere, that means you don’t remain consistent from start to the very end.
◎如同比賽得名不是很重要，最重要的是你有沒有全力以赴！但也不要為師這樣一說你就不在意了。
When you play a game, winning or losing is not most important, it is most important whether you have tried your very best. But it doesn’t mean you can care nothing about the game.
◎只有佛子能了解人性啊？如果你們身為人也能夠付出你的這份心，真心的了解對方，這個社會就比較安祥一點，不管你去那裡，大家看你都是一樣的，不管你是什麼膚色，不管你說什麼語言，只要你們的心存著一個善念，人人有仁慈的心。那麼四海一家都是兄弟姊妹。
Only Buddhas completely understand human nature. If you can devote true heart, always be considerate and understanding with other people, the society will be harmonious. Wherever you go, people treat you just the same. No matter what color of your skin, or what language you speak, as long as you nurture a kind thought and keep a merciful heart, all the people in the world are your brothers and sisters.
◎好的人要幫助能力不好的人，有能力的要去幫助那些比較害羞的人，比較害羞的，也要跟著人家的腳步趕快往前衝。修道這條路是要當仁不讓，總之每一個人都要盡自己的力量，天生我材必有其用，不要覺得你自己學得很少啊！你現在學得少，你還可以再趕快去學，活到老要學到老，沒有一個人好到已經不用再學了，人外有人，天外還有天。
The able people should not only help the less able people, but the bashful ones too. And the bashful should follow in the able people’s footsteps and work even harder to catch up. In cultivating, you should not hesitate as you go for what you think is right. Everyone is born with his individual talent and strength, so we should devote our own talent and strength. Don’t say your ability is too limited, and that’s why you should keep learning. This learning process lasts till you are old. No one is to good to learn. No matter how good you are, there must be a better person for you to learn from.
◎修道這條路有始有終，相信你有這個能力，相信你有這個使命，相信你可以成功，修道不可以畏畏縮縮，也不可以沒有信心！希望你們有問題就要問，不要把它放在心裡，不然就會動搖你的心啊！
One the path of cultivation, you should go from start to the very end. Tell yourself you have this ability, tell yourself you have this mission, tell yourself you can make it. Don’t shrink back in fear and don’t lose your faith. Speak up and explore the answers to your doubts. If you always bury these doubts deep in your heart, they will gradually shaken your faith.
◎坐在佛堂裡聽道很重要，但是當你明理後走出佛堂行道更重要，你沒有行道，怎能體會道的可貴呢？為師希望你們好好照顧你們的顆心靈，希望能從小種子變小樹，再變大樹。變成一棵大樹時，不僅可以照顧自己，也可以照顧別人。
Sitiing here listening to the Tao lectures is important, but putting your understanding of Tao into practice is even more important. How can you really feel the true value of Tao without personally acting it out? I hope you can go on with this piece of mind, so that you can all grow from seeds to small trees and then to big trees. When you grow to be a big tree, you can take care of yourself as well as other people.
◎我們修道人要有智慧！有智慧才能清除對錯善惡，才可以分清楚那一條是光明大道。你現在已經走上一條高速公路，當別人告訴你這裡有一條捷徑時，如果你心志不夠堅強，跟別人一起溜下去，結果就迷失了。你有智慧告訴自己，從這條路走就沒有錯了，那麼你很快就可以達到目的地；不管你走得快還是走得慢，終究這條路可以走到，是不是啊？(Yes）所以如果現在別人告訴你：這裡有條小路，你們要不要去？(No) 如果你們跟著別人去了，是不是拋棄為師我啊？如果你自己的心志不堅定，自己要放棄自己了，那你們也對不起為師我了。
As cultivators, we are supposed to have wisdom. With wisdom we can distinguish right and wrong, evil and righteous; also we can get to know which is the correct path for us to go. It’s like you are now on a superhighway. When people tell you there is a tricky shortcut, without a strong faith, you will slip off the highway and quickly get lost. Therefore, you should have the wisdom to tell yourself, “That’s it, it’s the only correct way for me.” Then you’ll soon reach the destination. Whether you go fast or slowly, you’ll arrive at the destination, right? (Yes) For now, if anyone tells you to follow a distracting shortcut, are you going with him? (No) Once you do follow the misleading tracts, that means you turn away from me. This way, without strong faith, you’ll give up yourself and fail to live up to my expectations.
◎修道人要一顆仁慈的心，儘管你今天都在佛堂，常常來佛堂，入了佛門，卻沒有一顆仁慈的意念，就不配稱為一個修道人。修道人不可以跟別人計較，要有一顆寬大的心胸包容別人；用一顆善良的心去接受別人，你才能廣結善緣，才能讓這個佛緣延續下去，對不對呀？ (Yes) 也因為你們前賢有這顆仁慈的心，你們今天才可以坐在這裡，所以你們要懷著一顆仁慈的心。
As cultivators, we should have a merciful heart. Even if you resort to the Temple frequently, without a merciful heart, you are not qualified to be a cultivator. As cultivators we should always be merciful to accommodate people and to let go, so that we can develop kind affinities and contribute to everlasting Buddhas’affinities. Understand? (Yes) Look at the lecturers in front of you. Because of their merciful hearts, you can sit here today for the Tao lectures. You should also keep a merciful heart.
◎你們有什麼念頭，不要以為別人不知道，但是還有仙佛知道，還有為師之道，所以待會為師跟你們 Say Goodbye 之後，你們也不要覺得為師離開你們，只要你們對道有心的一天，為師就永遠站在你們左右。
Don’t say people are ignorant of what you think inside. Buddhas and saints know it, and I know it too. Later on when I say goodbye to you, that doesn’t mean I leave you. Have faith in Tao; I am always standing by your side.
◎會有這個果，就有因啊，因果是連在一起，如果沒有造下這因，就不會有那個果，解鈴還需繫鈴人，把心安下來一切就沒事啦！
This particular effect results from a particular cause. The cause and the effect are connected together. Without the cause there will be no such effect. He who ties the bell has to untie the bell. With this understanding, you can release your mind, and from now on everything will be all right if you watch out for anything you do.
◎心是所有事情的源，守住這顆心，心是最重要，心會招來很多好的事情，所以把你們這顆心守住，就好像築了一道很堅固的牆，只要你覺得好的事情，就開門讓它進來，覺得不好的事情，就把門關緊，如此壞的事情也跑不進來，所以要好好照顧你們的那顆心。
Your heart results in everything, so take good care of your heart. It’s very important because your heart can bring about a large number of benefits. If you take good care of your heart, it is like you have built a firm wall. You allow the gate to open and provide access only to good things, but close it when bad things come. Therefore, always take good care of your heart.
◎來到佛堂，或許你們好不容易萌發起這顆初發心，你就要好好把它守住，不要現在在這裡心很強，可是待會回去了你的心就變弱了，再工作個幾天，再玩個幾天，心就不見了，好好守住你那顆初發心。
You should maintain tis hard-won heart of Tao, as you nurture today in the Temple after much effort. Don’t weaken it when you go back home. If you don’t always maintain this heart of Tao, after a few day’s work and play, it will be gone very soon. Therefore, always maintain your heart to Tao.
◎為師了解你們，但是為師也不得不說，因為師徒就好像父子一般，如果為老師的我，不告訴你們，那麼誰能告訴你，如果今天為師沒教你們，那為師就失職了，教不嚴，師之惰所以希望你們好好照顧自己，好好聽聽為師的話，今天咱們師徒相聚一會，為師看你們也很有道氣，道心也很強，跟為師我也很接近，希望你們把這一股氣延續下去，記得老師我，更要記得修道。
I understand what you want very well; but I must teach you the right lessons, since the relations of teacher and disciple are like the relations of father and son. As your teacher, if I don’t teach you lesssons, who is it to teach you? So if I don’t, I will not deserve the name of Holy Teacher. Now you have the affinity to be my disciples, you are very close to me. Do what I have told you and take good care of yourself. As I have seen, you already have a strong faith in Tao, therefore, I hope you can go on with this faith. Remember me, and remember to cultivate Tao.
◎為師看見你們有這個程度，就給你們這個重任，知道你們已經團結在一起，希望你們回去之後要記得為師跟你們講過的話，知而力行，做出一個修道人的樣子，做出一個小濟公的樣子，當別人對你不好的時候，不要把它回過去，不管是你的老板也好，同事也好，記住為師永遠支持你們，永遠在你們的身邊，永遠在你們左右；為師給你們的智仁勇，給你們『忠貞』，也給你們信心，好不好？相信為師我，好好的走下去，為師不會騙你們，只怕你們欺騙為師我，希望你們大家好好保重自己，只要你在佛堂一天，咱們就後會有期。
Now that you are all united together, it’s time you could shoulder this Holy Mission. I hope you all remember what I have told you today. Understand it and put it into practice. Do what a cultivator should do, and behave like a little Ji-Gong (Salvage the public). When people treat you badly, either your boss or colleagues, don’t return like for like. Remember, I am always supporting you, forever standing by your side. Today I give you wisdom, kindness, bravery, and loyalty. Also I give you faith. Trust me and persevere with your cultivation. I will never cheat you; only that you cheat me. I hope you all take good care of yourself. As long as you cultivate Tao, I will see you again sometime in the near future.
濟公老師與班員心得分享
◎ Being a wise person, you can distinguish between right and wrong.
班員：【我們要有智慧才能認清楚善與惡，對於錯，要有智慧才能擇善固執】

班員：【你要當一個善心的人，你才可以去普渡眾生，但首先你必須要有這個心，秉持這個善念，那就從周圍的人救起，渡化苦海中的眾生，首先就是渡你周遭的人。】
◎ Being a brave person, you can smile in the face of adversity.
班員：【我們每個人都會遇到問題，當我們遇到問題時，我們要非常勇敢，不要害怕，舉個例子：如果你在山上看到一顆很大的樹，你看到這顆樹很大，可是當你走下山，再看看這棵樹時，這棵樹就變小了。因此，當你把問題解決後，問題就變小了，所以這位前賢鼓勵大家遇到問題，要面對問題，而不是逃避它，因為上帝給我們的問題都有解決的方法。】
◎ Being a loyal person you can renmain consistent from start to the very end.
班員：【這位前賢很感謝引保師抽空帶他來這邊，還有前面的各位前賢。這位前賢希望自己能夠很忠心從頭到尾，堅持到底。】
